Life Before the Civil War
By this date in 1862, Confederate Forts Henry and Fort Donelson have recently surrendered to Union forces under the command of Admiral Foote and General Grant. But what was life like in this area during the years before war came to Land Between the Rivers? Visit The Homeplace Living History Farm for a glimpse of daily life in antebellum middle Tennessee. Enjoy a self-guided tour of a working second generation family farmstead and learn just how important rivers were to families that lived in this area during the 1850s.
Program free with HP admission. For more information, directions or weather cancellations, call 270-924-2020. The Homeplace will be closed in the event of adverse weather and road conditions.
